Shakespeare in the Park began in the early 1950s as an idea to make theatre available to people of all walks of life...to make it as easy to access as library books. Since then, every summer, in big cities and tiny towns around the world, William Shakespeare commandeers the public parks, beaches, and forests. For some people, it’s the only theatre they’ll see all year.
